The 48th FIS Congress in Korea besides confirming the calendars for season 2012/2013, chose the Host Cities for the World Ski Championships in 2017 in alpine skiing and cross country skiing.

St Moritz (SUI) will host The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2017 and Lahti (FIN) will host The 2017 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.

So now we just have to wait for the decision of The International Biathlon Union about the IBU World Championships in 2016 and 2017 which will be made during the IBU Congress, this coming September in Merano, Italy. The Candidates are: Oslo-Holmenkollen, Norway, is the sole applicant for the WCH 2016 while Östersund, Sweden and Hochfilzen, Austria both would like to host the best biathletes at the 2017 World Championships.
